Roadranger Academy Frequently Asked Questions (Click question to expand & view answer)

Q: Who can attend? Are there prerequisites for the class?

A: Any technician can attend, but the trainer has the option to reserve spots for technicians in the area. There are no prerequisites for any of the courses.

Q: How do I enroll?

A: Enrollment may be completed via our secure Learning Management System. Or you can call your local Roadranger trainer, found in the training centers section. For driver safety classes, contact the MCDD schedulers at 1-800-325-6733.

Q: What is the class size?

A: Class size may range between 10 and 15. Classes with an insufficient number of registrants (less than five) three weeks before the start date are subject to cancellation by the Roadranger training department. Registrants will be notified by phone, e-mail, fax or mail.

Q: What are class hours?

A: Most full-day training courses begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Half-day courses begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon. For exact times, contact your local Roadranger Trainer.

Q: Can I register over the phone or through the mail?

A: Yes. Call your local Roadranger trainer, found in the training centers section. For driver safety classes, contact the MCDD schedulers at 1-800-325-6733.

Q: Do you accept credit cards or checks?

A: We are now accepting credit cards, as well as checks, as a payment option.  Checks must be handled by your local Roadranger trainer, found in the training centers section.

Q: Will I receive a certificate?

A: Yes, upon successful completion of any hands-on evaluation and/or tests, you will receive a certificate of successful completion of the program. If you fail the hands-on evaluation and/or tests you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Q: Will I be certified?

A: No. There is no technician certification program.

Q: When will I know if I passed or failed?

A: The hands-on evaluation will be conducted at the end of the training session and you will be required to go online to take a short quiz after the training. Your certificate can be printed at anytime by going online and viewing your records. You will not receive a printed copy from your instructor.

Q: If I fail the course, can I take it over again? What are the costs?

A: Yes, you can repeat the course at any time. The cost to repeat a course is the same as the initial charge.

Q: Who will know if I fail the class?

A: Our goal is to have everyone learn and pass. If you do not pass, we will advise dealership personnel only if they ask. No written notification will go to the dealer.

Q: Are the materials supplied?

A: Materials such as training guides, service manuals and troubleshooting guides are provided. You should bring writing and highlighting pens to class.

Q: What else do I need to bring to classes?

A: All related hand and service tools are provided. Safety glasses, shop clothing and shop shoes are recommended, since most courses will have hands-on or lab sessions.
