Academy FAQ

Here are some of the answers to questions we receive most.

Who can attend? Are there prerequisites for the class?
Any dealership technician can attend, but the trainer has the option to reserve spots for technicians in the area. There are no prerequisites for any of the courses.

How do I enroll?
Enrollment may be completed via our secure RoadrangerStore. Or, you can call your local Roadranger trainer, found in the training centers section. For driver safety classes, contact the MCDD schedulers at 1-800-325-6733.

What is the class size?
Class size may range between 10 and 15. Classes with an insufficient number of registrants (less than five) three weeks before the start date are subject to cancellation by the Roadranger training department. Registrants will be notified by phone, e-mail, fax or mail.

What are class hours?
Most full-day training courses begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Half-day courses begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon. For exact times, contact your local Roadranger Trainer.

I don't want to use my credit card online. Can I register over the phone or through the mail?

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion for the class you have taken. If you pass the class, the certificate will say that you have successfully completed the class. If you did not pass, it will acknowledge that you completed the class.

Will I be certified?
No. There is no technician certification program.

When will I know if I passed or failed?
The tests will be graded at the end of the class. The hands-on sessions will be evaluated separately. You will know at the end of class whether you passed, but your certificate might not be given at that time.

If I fail the course, can I take it over again? What are the costs?
Yes, you can repeat the course, but it must be the same type of class and it must be coordinated through the Roadranger trainer who led the original session. There is no charge for repeated classes.

If I fail the course, is there a waiting period before I can register again?
No, but it will depend on class availability. Only the same product class can be taken. The materials supplied will not cover a different product.

Who will know if I fail the class?
Our goal is to have everyone learn and pass. If you do not pass, we will advise dealership personnel only if they ask. No written notification will go to the dealer.

Are the materials supplied?
Materials such as training guides, service manuals and troubleshooting guides are provided. You should bring writing and highlighting pens to class.

What else do I need to bring to classes?
All related hand and service tools are provided. Safety glasses, shop clothing and shop shoes are recommended, since most courses will have hands-on or lab sessions.
