Drum Products

All Airflex Drum Products have friction material which is cylindrical and engages upon a drum to create clutching/braking activity.   All product lines, with the exception of the spring applied brake, feature a drum lined with an air-actuated rubber tube.  This design operates under the 'torsional resilience principal", allowing the transfer of torque by the actuation - either constriction or expansion - of the flexible side wall tube on an adjactent surface.  Spring applied brakes operate without a tube and are engaged at the loss of air pressure.  Typically, Airflex drum products are used in general power transmission service.

Disc Products

All Airflex Disc Products engage upon a disc to create clutching/braking activity.  Disc products are primarily introduced when the application envelope for either size or heat exceeds the capability of a drum product. Typical applications are those that require high torque, tensioning or highly cyclic applications that generate a great deal of heat.  Disc products can have multiple plates to increase overall friction surface area, thereby increasing torque capacity.   Product lines may have cooling mechanisms - water, oil, or air - to elevate the heat capacity of the unit.
Oil and Oil/Air Cooled - Type AR, Type AS, Type SB, Type SC
Air Cooled - Type DBA, Type DBB, Type DBBS, Type DC
Combination Clutch/Brake - Type CBC, Type DCB
Water Cooled - Type WCB2 & WCBD, Type WCS, Type WCSB
Caliper Brakes - Type DP, Type H

  Accessory Products

Airflex products rely upon pressurized air and/or fluids for proper operation of the unit.  In addition to a wide selection of clutch/brake applications, Airflex also offers Accessory Products to ensure the proper transfer of gases and liquids into and out of the units.
Rotorseals - Single Passage, Dual Passage, Triple Passage
       Quick Release Valves - Sizes
